Media The Big Six - 1973 Words

Society today receives almost all of its information from the media. Since the media is mostly owned by just a few companies, views and ideas can be shaped by what one sees on the internet, television, and in newspapers. Because of the monopolizations from those few corporations that own what is viewed and read, it becomes fairly easy for the general public to instantly believe what is seen just because â€Å"the newsman said so.† Mass media not only has a huge and dangerous impact on the way society views politics and members of society, but also how media can affect the youth. â€Å"Media has been around in America since 1690, when the first newspaper in the United States, Publick Occurrences, Both Foreign and Domestick, was published†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦show more content†¦During an entire seventy-two hour period, remarks about Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, was not mentioned; although, somehow NBC found precious time to interview Michelle Obama on fashion and her fir st date with the current President of the United States† (NBC ObamaCare Coverage). It seems that NBC did not want the man associated with the bill to be seen as an inept politician in office since they have taken his side time and time again. Healthcare is an issue in this country that affects each individual in this country, so it would seem logical to report the progress of one of the most controversial and imperative laws to pass in recent memory. â€Å"Another perfect example of media avoiding the hard hitting stories and filling their broadcasting time with meaningless fluff in an effort for their favorite political figures to not look unsatisfactory in the eyes of the general public is when CNN decided to blow off coverage on the Benghazi hearings. The Benghazi attack was an awful moment for America as we lost four citizens on Libyan soil on September 11, 2012. Apparently four dead Americans, in a time where al Qaeda is allegedly not a threat to national security, is no match to the Jodi Arias trial and kidnappings in the Cleveland area. Breastfeeding In Nsw Promotion Protection And Support †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Breastfeeding In Nsw Promotion Protection And Support. Answer: Introduction: Breast-feeding is considered as one of the most significant issues related to legal. It is the optimal technique, the most accepted and healthy way to feed the baby. Breast milk is considered as a balanced resource of nourishment. It has a wide range of nutrients and immunological features which are not possible to replicate. Due to the fact that breast-feeding is considered as the natural way of feeding the infants, it is very important that the health professionals should talk about the risks associated with not breast-feeding instead of talking about the benefits of breast-feeding (Allen and Hector, 2005). There are numerous health risks that are linked with not breast-feeding. Extensive evidence is presented with reveals the health risks that are associated with not breast-feeding. Increasingly, good quality studies are also revealing this evidence. In this regard, convincing evidence is present with suggests increased gastrointestinal illness, respiratory tract infections and ne onatal necrotizing enterocolitis among the kids who were not breast-fed. Similarly, the evidence suggests a dose-response relationship. This means that the more intensive and longer breast-feeding can be associated with higher health benefits (Kim, 2007). For instance, strong evidence is present with suggests that breast-feeding can lower the risk of breast cancer corresponding to the period of breast-feeding by the mothers. On the other end, the mothers who do not breast-feed their children are at a higher risk of ovarian cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Similarly, it has also been suggested by the recent studies that if the infants are fed with former milk instead of breast milk, it results in higher incidence of several chronic illnesses and risk-markers related chronic diseases. These include type II diabetes, obesity and atherosclerosis during infancy, as well as adulthood. Exclusive breast-feeding for 6 months or longer period provides the optimal health protection to mothers and infants (Owen, 2006). On the other hand, the poor health outcomes that are associated with not following the recommended breast-feeding practices result in a huge social and economic burden on persons, families and also on the whole health system. Breast-feeding can protect against the poor health outcomes that have been considered as the major problems in Australia and which have significantly contributed in the health burden. Breast milk also contributes considerably to the GDP. It yields a net income advantage of at least 2.2 billion every year. Breast-feeding is also an integrated with human rights. . The reason is that it is the right of the infants to have human milk. According to the Convention of the Rights of the Child, it is necessary that the government should make certain that all sections of society, particularly the parents are well aware of the risks associated with not breast-feeding (Drane, 1997). When maternal milk is not available, the use of banked human donor milk can also significantly improve the other outcomes. It can also reduce healthcare costs, in case of new data intensive care unit. There are at present two milk banks operating in Australia. However, neither gets the support from government funds. It is very significant that governments as well as the health professionals provide the support that is necessary for establishing human milk banks in Australia (Smith, Thompson, and Ellwood, 2002). Even if almost all the women are bodily competent of breast-feeding, the infant formula is required for the babies who are less than 12 months old only when human milk is not accessible. Formula milk is based on soy beans that have been modified for making suitable for infants. In case of manufactured food, there is always a risk of errors during the process of manufacture and contamination while being manufactured or in home. It has been recognized by the World Health Assembly that there is a need that parents/caregivers are fully aware of the public health risks that are based on evidence and suggest intrinsic contamination of infant formula and the likelihood of introducing contamination, as well as the need for secure preparation/handling/storage of infant formula. Even the so-called follow-up milks that are suggested for infants who are more than 12 months old, are not necessary due to the reason as a mix that can provide adequate nutrition to these children. The use of infant f ormula results in substantial environmental cost, including deforestation, pollution, wasted resources and soil erosion (Smith, 1999). Policy Issues: The WHO has adopted the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes in 1981. Australia had also voted in favor of the resolution and the USA was the only country that had voted against it. The purpose of this Code is to protect and promote breast-feeding and to make sure that breastmilk substitutes are properly used, only in cases where they are necessary. Similarly, all advertisements and the promotion of these products have been prohibited by the Code. It also prohibits the use of healthcare systems, what the purpose of promoting the substitutes and requires that the actual and scientific product information to be given to the general public and at the same time, the health professionals should be able to receive samples but only for the purpose of research (Smith and Ingham, 2001). Since then, the World Health Assembly has passed number of resolutions connected with infant and child feeding. Concerns were articulated by The Assembly in 1996 regarding the fact that health institutions and ministries may have to face slight pressure for accepting, inappropriately, financial or other support related with professional training in infant health. Therefore it urged all the nations to make sure that the financial support provided to the professionals were working in infant does not result in the conflicts of interest. The Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding has been sanctioned by the Assembly, as it is required that there should be a new dedication by different nations to apply the International Code (Kent, 2006). In the meeting of WHO/UNISEF policymakers held in Florence, Italy, The Innocenti Declaration was adopted in 1990. It was endorsed by Resolution WHO 45.34. In this resolution, all the nations were recommend developing their own nationwide breast-feeding policies, set the national targets and monitor the prevalence of breast-feeding. They were also urged to appoint national breast-feeding coordinator or other appropriate authority and to set up multi-sector breast-feeding committee in which the representatives from relevant departments of the government, non-government organizations and health professional bodies are represented, which can ensure that all the maternity facilities are practicing the 10 Steps to Successful Breast-feeding and implement the principles of International Code (Simmer, 2000). Another relevant global program of the WHO and UNICEF is the Baby Friendly Hospital scheme. The purpose of this program is to support the maternity hospitals for implementing the 10 steps to breast-feeding and also to ensure practice according to the International Code (McGuire and Anthony, 2003). Most of the mothers in Australia start breast-feeding, but most of them cease breast-feeding after some time. On the other and it has been recommended by the NHMRC that all the babies should be breast-fed only for the first six months and along with other food, they should be breast-feeding for at least 12 months and after that if mother and infant want. The exclusive breast-feeding for the first six months has also been recommended by the WHO, but it had extended the recommendation to continue breast-feeding along with supplementary foods for 2 years or even beyond. The data collected by the National Health Survey reveals that even if 90% of the mothers in Australia start breast-feeding, but this rate declined significantly less than half of the mothers breast-feeding at six months and less than a fifth mother breast-feeding for the recommended period of 12 months. In the same way, the rate of full breast-feeding during the first six months is also low (Schanler, 2001). However, no national data is available regarding the rate of exclusive breast-feeding in the first 6 months. It is worth it is worth mentioning at this point that at present there is no strategic move adopted in Australia to maintain and promote breast-feeding. The need for a national level organization to supervise the promotion and defense of breast-feeding has also been mentioned in the Innocenti Declaration of 1990. Similarly, it was reaffirmed in 2003 in Global Strategy for Infant and Child Feeding. There are a number of countries in which national committees or apex bodies have been set up to ensure that a strategic approach is adopted for research and promotion in the field of breast-feeding, but in Australia it is not done yet. However in some States of Australia, breast-feeding policies have been produced as a step towards achieving a state level coordination of the initiatives related to breast-feeding (Lording, 2006). An example in this regard can be given of the breast-feeding policy directive released by the NSW Health. In this policy, five strategic areas for action that needs to be taken by the state health department and the Area Health Services have been identified. These are:- (1) Providing organized support to achieve enhanced and coordinating NSW health effort; (2) Providing evidence based health services; (3) Workplace development and providing breast-feeding friendly workplace; (4) Inter-sectoral collaboration with the organizations that are outside NSW health system; and (5) supervising and reporting the rates of breast-feeding. However, as mentioned above, there is no coordination present in the field of breast-feeding research in Australia. Due to this reason, some research that is funded in Australia takes place in a split manner and particular funding is not accessible (Forsyth, 2003). Evidence of critical discussion and analysis: On the basis of the above-mentioned discussion, some of the recommendations that can be made in this regard can be as follows. First of all, there should be an apex body that is supported by the federal government. This body should be set up at the nationwide level. It should have the responsibility to implement and coordinate a strategic approach that should be adopted to promote, protect and support breast-feeding in Australia. It should also have the responsibility of supporting breast-feeding research in Australia. For this purpose, a wide range of stakeholders would be approved so that they can give their input regarding such committee. It is also required that the health services that state and local level should establish broad coalitions. These should include the non-health and community partners. The purpose of these coalitions is to support the poor relation of breast-feeding promotion and protection. Ultimately, this type of co alitions can be clubbed under the coordination of the above-mentioned national body. It is also important that they should be consensus and consistency when it comes to monitoring breast-feeding in Australia (Koletzko and Shamir, 2006). There should be big establishment of a national working group, which should have representatives from States and Territories so that consensus can be reached regarding the optimal monitoring and reporting of breast-feeding at the national as well as the state and local level. The Government Health Departments of all the States and Territories should collect standardized data related to the breast-feeding rates. For this purpose, the agreed definitions and indicators of breast-feeding should be used. Similarly, there should be a separate, facilities-based monitoring system, which can monitor the breast-feeding rates at the time of hospital discharge, as well as other indicators for the purpose of improving the health facility policies and practices an d to achieve consistency at the state, as well as the national level. Another recommendation that can be made in this regard is that appropriate breast-feeding questions should be a part of all national health surveys. Training should be provided to all the health professionals who are concerned with mother and child health. These include community nurses, midwives, pediatricians, general practitioners and other persons were running with new parents. These training efforts should be coordinated at the national level so that all the relevant health professionals can play a role in supporting women for establishing and maintaining breast-feeding. In this regard, nationally consistent training material should be developed. Such materials should also be reviewed regularly so that they health personnel working with pregnant woman and mothers can give steady and current information to them regarding the risks of not breast-feeding. They should also be able to provide clinical support for breast-feeding, and they should understand the requirements for community support in the best of breast-feeding. The knowledge regarding breast-feeding, clinical capability and the attitude of the related health experts should be audited recurrently and restructured. Antenatal and postnatal breast-feeding education needs to be given as a part of the general clinical care. For this purpose financial support needs to be given so that nationally consistent and accessible information can be produced and disseminated regarding breast and artificial feeding. The parents should be alert to the risks related with not breast-feeding, and how the formula can be given to the children in the safe way (Koletzko and Shamir, 2006). At the same time, it is also important that legislative support is also be available for breast-feeding at social and environmental level. Therefore all employers and businesses should provide flexible works practices, breaks and other facilities so that it becomes easy for employees to combine work and breast-feeding. In case of large organizations, arrangements should be made to encourage on-site childcare. At the national level, paid maternity leave for minimum 6 months should be provided and if possible same leave can be provided for 12 months. They should be provisions related with parenting facilities at the national level, in public places, which allow breast-feeding. These should be made a part of local government planning needs in case of all big public facilities like parks and shopping centers. Community education is also required to affirm the right of the women to breast-feed wherever and whenever the woman wants to. Similarly, the health departments of the Commonwealth and the States and Territories should mandate the International Code. It should be mandated that free/subsidized supply of breast milk substitutes and other foodstuffs that are included in the Code will not be provided by any division of health system. In addition, it is also needed that the code of practice should be developed in alignment with the Code that will be applicable in case of the manufacturers/importers of bottles and teats, advertisers and retailers of formula feed and the advertisers, manufacturers and retailers of follow-on formulas. Information should be widely disseminated to the health care personnel regarding their obligations imposed by the Code. Similarly, the health personnel as well as the other relevant professionals should be encouraged to report the breach of International Code. References Allen, J. and D. Although Rock and Rolls most promising performers are gone, the rock and roll music still lived in the early sass, constantly adapting and creating different kinds of music, and still, rock and roll lived by its successors like Elvis Presley, a legacy was born and still adored by many rock and roll music enthusiasts. And later, the famous groups like The Beetles and Led Zeppelin emerged from the rock music scene in United Kingdom, but, at the progress of the continuously evolving rock and roll, a new genre was developed, one of the first submerges of rock and roll music and garage music.Punk rock music became a huge success around the world in the late sass (Yule, 201 0), with its fast, trashy, and rebellion-like lyrics; indeed, Punk is a revolution and a success to the audience, which was adored by many Punk rock fanatics by the time of its formation, 1969, until the present Punk rock music. Punk Rock adds another chapter in the long list of independent concepts and ideas within the American Culture. â€Å"America marches to a different drummer. Its uniqueness is explained by any or all of a variety of reasons: history, size, geography, political institutions, and culture. † This type of â€Å"American† thinking continues to inspire all kinds of musicians, but more so with the Punk Rock genre than any other. It was defines the core competencies of the bands, as well as that of their followers. This defining concept of individualism is also why Punk Rock has stayed relevant for all of these years. This country was built off this impression, as well as Punk Rock. It is hard to break down the barrier of individualism, because everyone is so unique, and Punk Rock simply unites and celebrates all different types of unique thinking. Through lyrics from bands such as the Romones, Blink 182, and The Clash, a colossal following came to Punk Rock. The lyrics almost became anthems to band groupies lives. In â€Å"The Shape of Things to Come† by the Romones, they sing â€Å"Theres a new sun Risin up angry in the sky? And theres a new voice Sayin were not afraid to die. One could argue that that way of thinking was backbone for what soldiers in the American Revolution stood for, and how the United States became to be what it is today. Of course American exceptionalism has its negative aspects to it that can be looked down upon. The United States has at times been exceptionally bad, racist, and violent. This cannot be ignored in the conversation of American exceptionalism. Although some of this demonstrates unfair and harsh governing, it shows that the American spirit still have that Punk Rock â€Å"drive† in them that fuels and strengthens them. This is also another reason why Punk Rock has, and will always continue to stay relevant in todays American Culture

Student Essay Example For Students

Student Essay If you were going to write the inferno how would it agree and disagree with that of Dante? The idea of making up a Hell, or inferno, is not an experience in which I, even in my wildest thoughts, had started to imagine. Call me an optimist, but the idea of imagining Hell never appealed to me. However, as I read through the Bible, I have come across many images of hell and will now attempt to create a partial picture. As I sit imagining my inferno, I see that it would be significantly different from Dantes inferno. I do agree that an Inferno should have stages, or circles, but fewer than that of Dante. And I do agree that the stages should be categorized by severity of actions, or sins, but I feel it more important to look at the heart of the sins instead of trying to analyze which sins were worse. Because of my personal study, I find my worldview strikingly different then that of Dante. We will write a custom essay on Student specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now In my inferno I would only have three rings set up in a similar manner to Dantes. (The outer rings being that of lesser magnitude than that of the center ring.) Unknowing would be the first and outer circle. In this area we would find people who did not get to hear the good news, and so, because not knowing is no excuse, they were condemned to Hell. (Based on Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world Gods invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine naturehave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.)An example might be an African who has never heard of Christ and followed a false religion not knowing any other way. Second, I would place those who knew yet did not follow; those that refused belief or those that only pretended to believe for their own benefit. In this place we would see both the hypocritical Christians as well as the atheists. Also included would be those that consciously chose a false religion over Christia nity. Many in this category are walking among us today. We might call them the unsaved, or giving them the benefit of the doubt, might consider them searching. However, if they die without embracing the true way, if their hearts have never turned to God, they are lost. And for that reason, they have been condemned to an eternal life that is deserving and seen as fit by the Lord on high. These people might be our next-door neighbors. Third, and definitely the most devastating, is that of public transgressions against God. The criminal element, those that feed on the innocent of the earth, those that violate the precepts of the Lord are condemned to this torturous ring. Also included are those who not only dont believe, but also find a way to take other brothers away from the truth. For instance, those who publicly spoke against Jesus teachings would be residents of this painful place. For in the inner ring we find the scum of the earth in which the evil agents of the world reside. The example of Judas comes to mind. As far as what it would be like in the inferno I do have to say that Dante did an exceptional job of creating a world filled with pain and torture. Even so, in comparison I would create a much harsher place. Dantes place might look like the land a land of milk and honey compared to the miserable existence bestowed upon every inhabitant of my inferno. I understand for literary purposes that there were people in every circle of Dantes inferno that were able to stop and converse with travelers. My inferno would be on the opposite end of the spectrum in which it would be a stretch of the imagination to see another individual, much less have the ability to actually converse and discover information about todays current events. Darkness would prevail. .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .postImageUrl , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:hover , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:visited , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:active { border:0!important; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:active , .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2 .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0d2d1d055ce88fb2bd4f8113ccc104e2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Decolonizing og Women EssayIn the first ring I would adopt that of Dantes 9th circle, not for its icy coldness nor for its severity, but mostly for its isolation. The outer ring of hell is not going to be a picnic, which almost seems the case in Dantes description. On the contrary it is going to be a freezing eternal torment. As cold as ice, the souls of the sinners will be totally isolated from the world of Hell. The cold will consume them. Frostbitten black (whatever physical form they might have) they will be eternally thrust colder and colder. As soon as they think that it couldnt get worse, it does. Alone, frozen, with no hope of ever seeing another soul, no chance of escape. These have no way to compare their situations with that of the rest of the inferno, but if they could they would feel blessed. Because as tormented as it might seem, it is like the mystical world of Candy Land when compared to the torture facing those in the second ring. In the second ring I could use Dante as a springboard as well. I believe he was on the right track as far as the cutting of flesh in Canto 28, but I believe Hell or my inferno should exert even harsher treatment on the sinners of the mortal world. In the second ring of the inferno we have the peeling of the flesh, much like a bad horror film in which they take out your organs while you sleep. The second ring of hell pushes your physical self to the limit. A peeling, tearing, scraping, cutting, slashing, hacking, carving, embalming, ripping, slicing, gashing, and every other excruciating act of pain you can do to the flesh is carried out in this circle. In Dantes account, these prisoners walked in a circle and were in communes with others. That would be a pleasantry not allowed in my inferno. For building on the misery of the first ring we still have total and complete isolation from other souls. There are no pleasantries in Hell. To create the third, and by far most devastating part of the inferno, I refer not to any advice given by the great philosophers of the past, but instead to a childrens book of today. In the third Harry Potter book, the idea of a Dementor, a being who sucks the joy and happiness out of everything, is the scene I envision for the third ring. The souls are hopeless to the core, having to deal with the idea of losing all. It is a place of devastation because of the total absence of God. Lucifer, i.e., Satan is the great Dementor, sucking the good, the pleasant, and everything worth living for out of the souls around him. Satan is the prince of darkness. He rejoices when a soul is won to his world. The cumulative effects of the previous two stages are visible in these decrepit decaying souls. Imagine a concentration camp at the height of its killing. Even this description is insufficient to the agony in this ring. It would be like describing the Taj Mahal by calling it a building in Asia. This place is indescribable; the horrors there defy language. No one could stand to fathom the truly horrendousness that lies there. While I agree that my personal viewpoint is not literary genius, I do, and will stand by it. For we all have a personal concept of hell, or Inferno, and this is mine. While Dante and I compare quite well at times, at others we see about as eye to eye as a liberal Catholic and a conservative Baptist. I feel as if we strive for the same goal: to define Hell in our own eyes. In the end, I hope and pray that I never discover if our perceptions are either right or wrong. Once in Heaven, I never again wish to ponder the alternative. Bibliography: Student Essay Example For Students Student Essay Executive SummaryNestle company is the worlds first company to make infant cereal. Henri Nestle is the chemist who starts to do research on baby food in year 1867. His product soon became known world wide after a baby drink his new product. Later in year 1905, Nestle Company merged with Angle-Swiss Condensed Milk Company and later in year 1904, Nestle Company produced milk chocolate. Because of its variety production, now Nestle is one of the largest food companies in the world, marketing over 8500 brands and 30000 products. It operates nearly 500 factories across 5 continents and employs over 200000 employees worldwide. Nestle aims to meet the everyday needs of Malaysian people everywhere and also be the leading multinational company. They produce three key products which are the food products, beverages products and pet care products. Among these varieties of products, Nestle is more concern on milk and food production. Although Nestle is now the leader in the market, they still wo rking hard to produce more and more new product and also to ensure the products quality is at a standard by the Research and Development (RD) department if not the title as market leader will not be long term. Currently Nestle operates in almost 100 countries worldwide and the brand is trusted and confident for user to consume. From the analysis of the external and internal environment, I notice that Nestle has successfully directed certain issues to their advantage. From the economic factors view, they collaborate with local government to farmer own raw materials whereby Nestle no longer needs to import raw materials from other country and the consequences to it is Nestle can now cut down costs and increase the amount of production/sales where it is so benefit the company. This wise decision not only beneficial Nestle but also the country. This can be proved by there are more jobs available, people have money, and the money will flows within the country (buyer seller) because now company needs not to import product from other country where it will help the country to build the economy. I also noticed that Nestle did not suffer any losses (Refer to appendix 4). Besides that, Nestle also share its expertise with local company where it will helps the market growth. From social factors view, Nestle has given extra miles out of their ingenuity for the development of the society as a whole. From technological factors view, Nestle has set up its own research and development department to do more extensive research of the product and develop more new product using the advanced technology. It also uses IS/IT in wide scale to suit and to keep up with the more demanding environment. Indirectly it contributes to the development of technology. As for the internal environment, Nestle Company handles the 5 forces very well. The 5 forces are done according to the Porters Industry and Competitive Analysis (ICA) Model. Looking at the company analysis Porter, knowing that Nest le manage the supplier and buyer power forces well balanced because of their wise market strategy. Look at substitute products and services, it does not affect them too much this is because it already has it own strong brand name in the market whereby there are many consumer loyalty out there. Besides that, it also has a strong connection with its partners so this factor is not a matter to worry about. Looking at the SWOT analysis, Nestle knows how to utilize their strengths and opportunities to their advantages as well as minimizing their weaknesses and threats. If Nestle faced great strengths and opportunities, their weaknesses and threats could become a major problem if they do not managed properly. Therefore, it is essential for Nestle to maintain a management which is dynamic yet influential. All the critical factors that might risk Nestle Company has all been identified by using the environmental analysis and it has already been taken it into account. Their competitive advanta ges have also been identified. Nestle Company will still be the leading food company if they continue to strive to be the best by introduce more new products and provide more quality food in the future. Background and AssumptionsBackgroundNestle was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestle, who is a chemist interested in baby food. Nestle is the largest food company in the world, marketing over 8,500 brands and 30,000 products. It operates nearly 500 factories across 5 continents and employs over 200,000 employees worldwide. We will write a custom essay on Student specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Nestles operations in Malaysia began in 1912, with a branch office known as Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in Penang, importing and distributing products under the Nestle brand in the region for its ultimate parent company, Nestle SA, Switzerland. The original business of Nestle Company was based on milk and dietetic foods for children. The new Nestle grew and disparate its range of products through acquisitions and mergers with better known brands of the time. The other ranges of Nestle product include culinary products, wheat and cereal beverages, breakfast cereals, liquid milk/creamers, mineral water, ice cream, pet food, chilled products as well as confectionery. Today, the Nestle Company still complies with its founders beliefs and principles and is; therefore, very much people-oriented, and committed to understanding its consumers needs throughout the world in order to provide the best products for their lives. As a World Food Company, Nestle provide the best food for whatever time of the day and for whatever time of everyone life. It is a Company that maximizes the use of good quality local raw materials to produce and sell world-class products of the highest consistent quality, reliability and convenience based on business excellence principles throughout its operations. AssumptionsNestle is the world leading food company with over 90 years of doing business in Malaysia. Nestle has contributed towards the well being of Malaysians through its high quality products. Nestle position as a trusted food, nutrition and wellness company and focused on nourishing Malaysians to achieve overall wellness and to bring Good Food, Good Life to all members of society (Source: http://www.nestle.com.my/Nestle+In+The+Community/). As Nestle aims to produce and sell world class products of the highest consistent quality, reliability and convenience that satisfied the local tastes and cultural flavours in each market, Nestle set up its own Research and Development group to conduct product trial development. Besides RD, Nestle provides Consumer Services to care for its consumers. Via the toll free line, consumers can give their suggestions and feedback to the Company according to the products they purchased or interested. Listening helps Nestle to understand what people want. This would help the Company to maintain quality or brand loyalty. However, we would like to emphasise that if the Company does not continue to use its best practices to understand the market trends and what the people want, and fail to go on with the existing Company structure, they would lose their position in the market. Also, they would be easily beat by their competitors. In addition, the marketing department needs to survey the market and provide accurate information to the management before a new product being developed. The Company required having well asset management and financial control instead of investing in other new area without planning well. Mission Statement, Goals, and ObjectivesMission statement defines the unique purpose of a company and sets a company apart from its rivals as well as defining its business operations and scope. The mission statements that I manage to retrieve from Nestles website are as ;#61607;Appendix 1 (Business Principles). ;#61607;Appendix 2 (Corporate Philosophy). ;#61607;Appendix 3 (Our Promise). In order to analyze the mission statement of the Company further, we shall use Peter Druckers 5 questions. These five questions could help us understand Nestles mission statement in depth or clearer. Both the corporate principles and promise justify the Peter Druckers five questions. 1.What is our business?#61607;Produce and sell world-class products of the highest consistent quality, reliability and convenience based on business excellence principles throughout the operations. (Corporate Philosophy)2.Who is the customer?#61607;Customer is the audience Nestle intends to market its products to or the grocery stores, supermarkets, mini markets and etc those who would like to retail Nestles products. ;#61607;People range from a newborn infant to a growing child and from a budding adult to a ripened senior would be Nestles products targeted consumers. 3.What is the value to the customer?#61607;Nestles products are safe to consume, that it complies with all regulations and that it meets high standards of quality. ;#61607;By purchasing Nestles products, it will raise the life value of the customers. 4.What will our business be?#61607;By answering this question, we can determine the Company short-term goals. #61607;Nestle has both research and development department, and consumers services to caring its consumers and understand what they want. 5.What should our business be?;#61607;By answering this question, the Company long-term goal can be determined. ;#61607;Nestle should conduct marketing survey in order to understand the market trend and launch new products or refine existing product based on the market trend. In addition, it should make decision properly before invest in new area. From these sources, I found that the Company defines sustainable development as the process of improving the worlds access to better quality food, while contributing to long-term social and economic development, and preserving the environment for future generations. Besides that, Nestles objective is to manufacture and market the Companys products in such way as to create value that can be sustained over the long-term for shareholders, employees, consumers, and business partners. Environmental AnalysisThe environmental analysis is import for a company or an organization to look on because the company or organization staying in the environment where many factors have an influence on future outcomes. These analyses have to be considered in order to help the organization or company to maximize the effectiveness of any plan. There are two types of environment factors which are remote or external environment and the second type is industry or internal environment. Remote/ external environment means the company/ organization has no or little control over whereas industry/ internal environment means the company/organization have some control over. Remote environment will be discussed in more details below:Remote EnvironmentThere are 5 factors in remote environment. These factors together with its implication are in below:-1)Economic FactorsAlthough Nestle is the leading food company, it shares its knowledge and expertise with local small and medium food companies su ch as Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). It helps those entrepreneurs to compete in the new free trade environment which will ultimately benefit the industry and the economy by making the market growth. Besides that, Nestle also collaborates with local government schemes to provide technical assistance to farmers in planting and harvesting crops. This collaboration benefits both parties, as the farmer will get income and Nestle will get to purchase good and fresh raw quality materials to produce their food. By having own local productions, Nestle should no longer needs to import any raw materials from other country where they will save much more money because usually local production will be far more cheaper then those imported (currency difference, taxes). It does not only beneficial Nestle, but also local economy because the money will flow within this country and there are more works for the unemployme nt. It will also benefit the consumers whereby consumers could enjoy the local productions with low price. More consumers will use this product and therefore Nestle will gain more profit from that. Looking at Nestles yearly and monthly net profit, it shows that they gain profit. (Refer to appendix 4). 2)Social FactorsSocial factors seem to have made an important factor here as the global need for food productions. The population growth rates are raising so do the food productions. As the new generation people now are more educated, their lifestyle has changed from previous generation due to their high income. Because of their busy schedule, they do not care about the health and consume whatever without thinking whether the food they take are 100% healthy and after consume the unhealthy food they did not have the time to work out. So people nowadays do not have a healthy lifestyle, due to this problem Nestle conduct free public health forums around the country and also organize annua l Breakfast Campaigns to promote good eating habits to aware the consumers of the food they take everyday to lead them to a more healthy and safe lifestyle. By joining Nestle Company, employees will be shower with a lot of benefits such as accident insurance, excellent training opportunities, infant feeding scheme and many more. The salary they get is competitive. 3)Technological FactorsInternet and Mobile Technology is currently growing so rapidly and hot in the market where almost all of the people nowadays will get contact with it. Nestle could use this advantage to benefit them by using it to promote their products over those advanced technology. Besides that, the employees and customers can connect with each other to enable the customer to interact with the company. Customer could get more information about the company from their site. Other than that, Nestles employees could use this service (internet) to connect to its industry in other country such as Australia, Singapore, U .K and more. In order to improve and stick to their goal (produce good quality food and stay as the world leader food producer) they are need to do more research and development whereby those research rely heavily on advance technology. Nestle company spends more than RM2 billion to invent new products. They will do research using the technology to find information to satisfy the local tastes and cultural flavors in each country market because they believe that no two country shares exactly the same preferences. By understanding what each country asks for, Nestle could market difference product according to the customer demand in difference country. It is already proven that the technology factors are important for Nestle Company. 4)Political FactorsPolitical Factors are important especially in food industry. Nestle provide HALAL food assurance which it is certified by JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia) to provides assurance to the consumers that Nestle products are manufactured, imported and distributed under the strictest hygienic and sanitary condition in accordance to the Islamic faith. Besides that, to ensure that consumers do not buy any fake products, Nestles products are always come with the seal of guarantee. By having the seal of guarantees, consumers are now more confident and trust Nestle products. Strict quality control played a role in political factors too. It means that Nestle products quality will not be difference with other countries. Consumers are guarantees with full satisfaction of the products all over the globe. 5)Ecological FactorsEcological Factors is an important issue to talk about in any industry. As a responsible industry, Nestle Company should ensure that all the waste should be handling in the correct way such as throw those waste in the correct place so that they will not pollute the water. Industry should protect the environment to ensure that all the residents nearby lives healthy and safe. Preserving natural resources and minimizing waste have become a part of day to day duty for the industry to handle. Most of the company optimizes the use of locally available raw materials, which must meet both legal and internal quality criteria. Those companies have performed activities such as minimizing the use of environmentally critical substances, recycle waste and dispose of non-recyclable waste in an environmentally friendly manner. For Nestle Company, they also reduce the environmental impact of packing without jeopardizing the safety, quality or consumer acceptance by using the most efficient and appropriate packaging solutions. Industry Environment (Porters Five Forces)We analyze the industry environment which is external analysis by scanning and evaluating various sectors outside the Company. The purpose of industry environment analysis is to identify positive and negative trends that may affect the Company performance. Positive trends would be opportunities that improve the Company per formance while negative trends would be threats that hinder the Company performance. Michael Porters Five Forces Model is tool that we use to analyze Nestles industry environment. The five areas involved are as follow:1.Entry Barriers;#61607;One of the barriers may be the direct government restrictions on entry. The licensing fees and the entry duty in Malaysia may be high. In addition, the Malaysias government always restricts that the food produced and marketed should be halal. .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .postImageUrl , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:hover , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:visited , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:active { border:0!important; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:active , .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487 .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2fe8438bf1a1a5496024ea49d9ba4487:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Fahrenheit 451 - A Charred Existence Essay#61607;An entrant would need to enter at a large size and with a consequent large addition to the size of output Milk and food industry has large economies of scale in relation to the size of the market. #61607;There are already few leading milk and food manufacturers in the Malaysia markets (includes Nestle) and are making large profits and the entry barrier is high, so a potential entrant might forego entry into the market because its entry would substantially drive prices down and cause losses for the entrant. #61607;Brand loyalty is established by continually advertising the brand and company name, patent protection, high product quality, and after sale service. Strong brand loyalty makes it hard for customers to change to new, competing products and therefore would be example of the entry barriers, too. 2.Supplier Power#61607;In my opinion, there are lot of supplier over the world that could supply the raw material to milk and food industry#61607;However, there are also a lot of organizations which manufactures and marketing milk and food. #61607;Suppliers may not be willing to offer very favorable terms and services to small businesses or new entrants if they have other potential customers. #61607;Suppliers may be more willing to offer an existing, large milk and food manufacturer better services. #61607;So the supplier power for milk and food industry is moderate. 3.Buyer Power#61607;The buyer power in this industry is high because there are a lot of such organizations providing similar products. #61607;For new entrants as well as the existing company, one of the approaches is to reduce the price of the products. #61607;However, due to the nature of business, Nestle has created consumer and quality loyalty as well as has a stable position in the market. #61607;So, Nestle only need to maintain its products quality or refine the quality, and try to control its production in order to increase revenue. 4.Substitutes#61607;Both direct and indirect substitutes are considered. #61607;The Company provides milk, breakfast cereal, culinary foods and chilled products. #61607;Bread, fresh milk, fast food, original spices as well as fresh or home cook foods could be the substitutes to the Nestles products. ;#61607;Currently there are quite a number of substitute products or services in the milk and food industry. These are offered by companies such as Campbell, Kelloggs and Dutch Milk. #61607;In order to counteract the threat, Nestle always differentiate its product from its competitors. The research department always gathers information and identifies current customers needs to develop new products and expand their market. ;#61607;In addition, the Company constantly strives to keep abreast with changing consumer preferences. 5.Competitive Rivalry;#61607;The competition rivalry of milk and food industry is high. ;#61607;There are a number of large sizes Company in this industry, for example, Kelloggs Co., Campbell, Danone and Kraft Foods Inc. The high intensity of the rivalry among existing competitors declining the market, hence, the new entrants would give up entry to the industry. SWOT AnalysisSWOT analysis is a framework for analyzing the company strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by the company. Strengths and weaknesses are called the internal analysis where it is design to examine the capabilities of the company. For opportunities and threats, it is usually called the external analysis whereby it looks at the main points in the environmental analysis by identify those points that pose opportunities for the company and those that pose threats or obstacles to performance. Basically strengths is use to overcome threats whereas opportunities is use to overcome weaknesses. SWOT analysis will be discussed in more details below:StrengthsMarket leader To maintain as the long term market leader, Nestle outlook in expanding market share and nurturing brand loyalty. Nestle largest market share for most of its core brands, especially MILO and Nescafe which have consistently maintained very dominant market share for the past 3 years. Nestles Maggi r ange of instant noodles is also a leader in its segment, market share for the past 3 years. Set standards Setting standards are important. By having the standard set, consumer is more relief to buy the product. Nestle food are all set in HALAL standard whereby the products are manufactured, imported and distributed under the strictest hygienic and sanitary condition in accordance to the Islamic faith. Besides that, all the product will come with seal guarantee to let the consumers identify that the product they buy is approve by the government and is save to consume and most importantly to let the consumer to differentiate the Nestle product with the fake one in case there are fake product in the market. Strong brand name Strong brand name is made possible through early assimilation of Nestle product. It is basically come from good quality product as well as consistent advertising and promotional efforts. Once the product is acceptable by the consumers and it is proved to be good, it will automatically become a demanding product in the market. Customer loyalty will also take place. In addition to that, advertisement about the product is also important because it is use to aware the customers about the new product being introduced in the market. Milo and Nescafe are some of the fine examples of Nestles strongest brand name over the years. Specialist marketing expertise As the company is growing bigger and bigger more relevant specialist are needed in order to handle the company well. Therefore more and more people with the required specialized skills are hired. With their professional skill and knowledge they have, together they help the company to successfully build its business to the climax. New, innovative product or services With the help of the Research and Development department, they will do more research on the consumers needs (what they want from Nestle) and develop the new product according to the consumers taste. Once they capture what the consu mers needs, it is easier to market their products. Reason to do market research is because different country will have different taste for example the product might be very demanding in Malaysia but it is not demanding at all in U.S. When the company always introduced new and innovative products to the consumer, the consumer will always keep an eye on this product. Launching a good customer service also played an important part. This is because it allows consumer to give feedback and the company can use the feedback to improve the company. Size and capital backing Nestle Company gain profits over the past years where it allows them to acquire more production factories around the world. With the backing and tariff incentive from the local government, Nestles acquisitions of these factories will receive support from its investors or sponsors. With more acquisitions, it can increase its size and also be able to venture into more diversified areas. WeaknessesDamage reputation -Boycott of the product from the customers will leads to damage reputation. Other consumer will stop buying the product. Example: boycott Nestle for using artificial material to make baby milk powered. Even if Nestle make clearance on the statement, it is still damage the company reputation. Size Nestles is looking forward to open more branches all over the business area whereby it potentially might be a problem to the company as they are in danger of becoming too huge to stay nimble and competitive. To overcome this problem from coming true, each new branch to be open should carefully considered ensuring that the acquisition will only benefit them not drown them. OpportunitiesMergers or joint ventures With mergers or joint ventures, the company can gain more profits and become the leader in the market because they produce a lot of varieties of product to the market where no second company able to produce as many products as the leader company. Nestle is one of the biggest merger company where in the end it become a leading company in Malaysia. Nestle originally is just produce baby food and dietetic food for children but later Nestle merged with Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company to produce condensed milk. Years after that, Peter ; Kohler Swiss General Chocolate Company joint venture with Nestle to produce milk chocolate. Later MAGGI Company merged with Nestle. With mergers or joint ventures, Nestle successfully became the leading market in Malaysia. Advancements in the communications area Internet is growing fast all around the world, hereby Nestle can use this valuable communications to help the company to growth. Nestle will continue to benefit as they utilize the Internet fully to support their business. The employees can get information from the Internet easily and it is the best way for the consumer to look for more information about the company via Internet and they could send feedback to the company via Internet. Growing affluence of developing countries Developing countries are currently growing in terms of its affluence. Nestle can now market its product to other countries and Nestle also have the opportunities to collaborate with new partners to develop products suitable for the local market. Moving into new attractive market segments Nestle has become the top multinational companies with their top brand name whereby there are a lot of small companies would like to be Nestles dealers. By this way, Nestle has become a supplier besides just selling the product to the market on its own. Now with the help of dealers, the product could be selling in the fastest way and more profit will be gain by Nestle. ThreatsPrice war As there is many same type of product by different company to compete in the market, some of the consumer will look at the price to determine which one to buy such as restaurant will surely choose for the cheapest product. Price war will occurs here. All of the company will fight w ith each other by promoting the cheapest price so that their product will be sold fast. Reluctance of users to purchase new product Most of the consumers do not like to adopt new product because they are satisfy with the one they are having and reluctance to try others. They do not want to waste time to suite themselves with the new product. So even if Nestle may come out with new ideas the adoption of the new product might be slow. For example: first approach Nescafe and later Nescafe Arabian. Survey shows consumers prefer the old Nescafe taste. Alliance between major competitors All types of products rely on customers. Without customers there is no company. Nestle is not an unexceptional case so if its competitors come out with some new and attractive product to attract existing customers, the company could be in trouble from this loss of competitiveness. Alternate StrategiesThe alternate strategy looks into the ways Nestle maintain its competitiveness. Nestle aims to re-shape in concentrate on core brands, significant improvements in supply chain and innovation. With the strength identified in the SWOT analysis, Nestle is no doubt capable of maintaining its competitiveness. The objective of the company would be produce and sell world class products of the highest consistent quality, reliability and convenience. To achieve this, Nestle must plan duration to reach to the objective. Nestle plan to achieve it in 2 years time. Within this time, Nestle needs to do research and develop the product several times until the product is successful and it meets the objective. It will benefit the company as the consumer will be more loyal to the product as the product is trusted by them. Nestle can also cooperate with other local research and development team from other organization together to do research about the upcoming product. It operates nearly 500 factories across 5 continents and employs over 200,000 employees worldwide. 2.Research and Development#61607;Nestle annually spends in the excess RM2 billion to research new products and processes. #61607;The Research and Development help Nestle better understand the processes of food production from fresh consumables to finishes products. 3.Quality#61607;Quality is the cornerstone of Nestles success. ;#61607;Nestle always promise to the customer that it is safe to consume and complies with all regulations as well as meets high standards of quality. ;#61607;Beside food safety, nutrition of the food produced is emphasized. 4.Supply chain management;#61607;Bernard Teiling, assistant vice president of business process integration for Nestle S.A says supply chain management (SCM) is both a source of competitive advantage and a lever for profit margins. (Source: Supply Chain Management, http://www.outsourcing-information-technology.com/supply.html);#61607;Nestle defines SCM as the two-way management of the flow of goods, services and information from suppliers to manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, stores to the end user. Critical Success Factors (CSF)Critical Success Factors (CSF) is those things that must go right in order to achieve companys objectives. For Nestle, it make sure that all the products manufactured, marketed as well as imported are of their values and fulfill the standard of quality by applying Nestle Quality System (NQS) throughout the Nestle world. The NQS, covering raw material sourcing, manufacturing, quality control, marketing and delivery, guarantees full satisfaction to every consumer. In addition, the research and development is set in order to conduct research activities cover all aspect of nutrition ranging from the study or raw materials to food technology. This complies Nestle is not only emphasize on the quality but also consumers daily nutrition. While the consumer services is set to understand what the consumers want and their preferences. Products of Nestle have to satisfy consumers taste, too. Products of Nestle are always reviewed by the internal research and development for products refining. Besides that, these two components of Nestle also help to survey the market trend for new product innovation and development. Another factor that helps the Company to meet its goal is increase the supply chain. By increasing the supply chain, the prices of the products would decrease and would be more affordable by the consumer. Nestles enviable position in the milk and food industry is due to strong product identification which is made possible through early assimilation of Nestles products. With the consistent advertising and promotional efforts, the name Nestle is now almost stay in every consumers heart in Malaysia. Learning from others is an important factor that leads Nestle lead to success, too. Nestle always learn from others competitors no matter their success story or failure, so that they will gain benefit from others success and learn from the competitors failure. ConclusionIn the conclusion, we know that Nestle is the successful market leader company which bases on its business strategy according to its mission statement. Nestle mission statement and purpose; together with its core values and principles allowed the company to grow from a small company to a huge company with branches all over the world. The mergers and joint venture of other company with Nestle is very successful and dare to say almost all of the product sells in the market now are all manufacturers and distributed by Nestle Company. As a market leader, Nestle also move into a new segments whereby besides selling the products by its own, a lot of smaller organization is interested to cooperate with Nestle to help the com pany to market the product such as Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). This is beneficial to both the organization and Nestle because it could help Nestle to distribute the product to wider area and the organization will gain profit from being Nestles dealer. To sustain in the present competitive, Nestle are needed to increase the supply chain. Since there are so many same kind of product introduced in the market, in order to sustain the top sales, the company must increase the supply chain so that the product price will be decrease and therefore consumer can afford to buy. Good quality and the price is competitive to others organizations product. Besides increase the supply chain, the organization must also study the consumer on what they want and expect from our product. Short to say, product is produce according to the consumers needs and not according to what manufacturer wants it to be because the end user is always the consumers. Once the organization get hold on what the consumer wants and expect from them, it is more easy for the organization to develop a new product to suite the consumer taste and the product will definitely successful in the market. Good quality of the product is the most important issues to create customers loyalty. From looking at the environment analysis, knowing that Nestle reduce the environmental impact of packing without jeopardizing the safety, quality or consumer acceptance by using the most efficient and appropriate packaging solutions. Having this decision, consumer will feel more protecting and safe to consume Nestle product. They will most probably later become customer loyalty. Nestle always thinks of consumers health issue which is a good idea. By using the technological factors, it will enable the consumer to know the company more in depth and if they have any problems they can send mail to the company. Using the advanced technology, it is convenient both for the consumer or the staff to communicate with each other. Nestle would be able to further achieve its success if they kept on produce more quality, attractive and innovative product. They will successful also if they able to exploit their current competitive advantage and keep on progressing within their business strategy. Ne stle should now be able to successfully sustain its present competitive when they state to their mission statement, goals and objective. They will stay as the marker leader for long term. Business Algebra Discussion - Smart Custom Writing Samples

Business Algebra Discussion - Smart Custom Writing Industrial ecologyIntroduction Industrial ecology or what is currently referred to as green design seeks to address the waste management problem from within the processes of production that are responsible for generating hazardous waste rather than the character and location of the wastes and facilities as is the case in justice research and environmental equity.   This paper will look at the description of industrial ecology and argue about the concept’s strength in contributing to pollution prevention efforts and waste management as well as explore its political feasibility in the United States. INDUSTRIAL ECOLOGY Industry ecology was convened as a colloquium in 1991 by the United States National Academy of Science. The aim of this colloquium was to exploit the new approaches emerging in industrial design of products and the processes involved and the implementation of manufacturing strategies that are sustainable.   This colloquium identified, the need for research as well as development to work in tandem with advances in technology in an effort to reduce the pollution perpetuated by industries’ production design which has also in the years been re-emphasized by engineering and scientific communities. This is in an effort to emulate the industrial ecology described in Type III. Both the government of America and that of Canada have in recent years been encouraging industries to engage in voluntary programs aimed at pollution preventing in an effort to reduce the hazardous waste as well as other contaminants that might harm the environment in the production stage rather than after the waste is generated consistent with industrial ecology. This is a management hierarchy that considers source reduction, alternative materials to phase out toxins, recycling and reuse as opposed to treatment and disposal. This view is also held by several other industry groups. The concept draws its structural analogy from the natural ecosystem in its effort to define the relationship between products by the industries, residue generation as well as the treatment of waste and disposal of the same. In this concept, internalization of pollution within the process of production is viewed as being a more effective method of production because of the environmental implications presented by uncontrolled emission as well as the economical inefficiencies presented by waste material disposal (Fletcher). The strength of Industry ecology in aspects of waste management is that it emphasizes on a more fundamental rethinking about the six elements of manufacturing. This includes the utilization of materials of desired properties during the formulation or extraction stages that are of the which contributing to overall industry environmental friendliness; adopting this concept also eliminates the need for storage and the long-term degradation of nonhazardous or hazardous feedstock materials by utilizing the philosophy of just-in-time raw materials; the process substitution employed also eliminates feedstock that may be toxic in nature; the engineering processes are controlled so as to assure a reliable and robust process: and also the considerations are made about the end-life of produced products to ensure their recyclability (Fletcher). The processing and manufacturing industries are always keen on improving their efficient use of economic resources. It therefore goes without saying that most industries are likely to adopt techniques and technologies that will enable it to conserve materials and also minimizes or avoid completely the need for waste management. Pollution control usually has many hidden costs associated with it. Prevention of pollution ultimately reduces or prevents these. Industry ecology identifies four incentives that would drive industries towards pollution prevention that the American and Canadian regulatory aspects apply. This includes the increase in the disposal costs; the prospect of incurring financial liabilities in implementing clean-up activities even in situations where the generator of waste might not be directly responsible for disposing waste improperly; waste disposal also presents liabilities by third-parties; there is also the risk of being adversely opposed by the public which is often unpredictable (Fletcher). Although measures of ensuring pollution preventions have always occupied center stage in politics especially around election periods, legislature passing to make some of the identified standards law, have often been missing. As it is, there has been a lack of regulation aimed in minimizing waste in the production process. The existing regulations allow most industries to rely on land-disposal as means of pollution control. This is attractive to industries as it presents a cheaper alternative of waste disposal. Unfortunately this method presents severe long-term environmental impacts than any other. In addition to this, production technologies that have been proven in the past are more likely to be adopted by industries as opposed to new alternatives aimed at reducing pollution. This problem is exacerbated as the adopted production processes mature, as many firms are less likely then to abandon them. Confidentiality presents an addition problem in that companies which develop ways of efficiently reducing waste are always reluctant to share this development with others. This is because such methods enable it to maintain a competitive advantage over its competitors. Confidentiality however still dogs the efforts of pollution prevention programs aimed at facilitating exchange of at least information on waste reduction at a generic level between corporate (Fletcher). Many groups including government environmental strategies as well as industry have in recent parts enthusiastically taken to pollution prevention debate.   The government of America In conjunction with the Canadian government has since 1972 showed their commitment to the virtual elimination of toxic substances that have persistently plagued the great lakes region. This bilateral agreement was amended in 1987 with the International Joint Commission (IJC) being mandates to support efforts to wipe out toxic substance use, manufacture and disposal.   Political will in pollution prevention policies in the United States can be traced to the â€Å"Pollution Prevention Act passed by Congress in 1990† (114). However, the Environmental Protection Agency is not empowered by the law to address the issue only providing legislative basis that provides for preferred environmental management hierarchy that is aimed at minimizing waste production as the priority and the disposal of product ion waste as a last result. A pollution prevention ethic is emphasized at the EPA especially when considering actions of enforcement.   However the federal government has not as yet initiated any program for waste exchange although a national private network, two programs that are state run as well as four private regional programs. Most industries still push for their companies to be recognized for conducting recycling off-site a trend referred to as green-washing by organizations such as Green Peace. On their part, environmentalists as well as relevant government officials are advocating adaption of industrial ecology concepts by companies by implementing recycling measures on-site in addition to source reduction of emissions as the key in prevention of pollution (Fletcher).   Conclusion Industrial ecology presents methods that are environmentally sound and contribute to waste management through the elimination or reduction of waste in the production process itself. This presents an economically and environmentally sensible method of pollution prevention. The government has been an advocate of this concept for a while now. However, it has lacked in regulation implementation to emphasis its views. As it is, the concept has not fully received the political backing it requires to be adopted on a holistic level relying instead on industry goodwill for its implementation in production processes. Learning About Dolphins for Homeschoolers

Learning About Dolphins for Homeschoolers What Are Dolphins? Dolphins are beautiful, playful creatures that are delightful to watch. Although they live in the ocean, dolphins arent fish. Like whales, they are  mammals. They are warm-blooded, breathe air through their lungs, and give birth to live young, which drinks its mothers milk, just like mammals that live on land.   Dolphins breathe through a blowhole located on the top of their heads. They must come to the waters surface to breathe air out and take in fresh air. How often they do this depends on how active they are. Dolphins can stay underwater up to 15 minutes without coming to the surface for air! Most dolphins give birth to one (sometimes two) babies about every three years.  The dolphin baby, who is born after a 12-month gestation period, is called a calf. Female dolphins are cows and males are bulls. The calf drinks its mothers milk for up to 18 months. Sometimes another dolphin stays nearby to help with the birth. Although it is occasionally a male dolphin, it is most often a female and either gender is referred to as the auntie. The auntie is the only other dolphin the mother will allow around her baby for awhile.   Dolphins are often confused with porpoises. Although they are similar in appearance, they are not the same animal. Porpoises are smaller with  smaller heads and shorter snouts. They are also more shy than dolphins and typically  dont swim as close to the surface of the water. There are over 30 species of dolphin. The bottlenose dolphin is probably the most popular and easily-recognizable species. The killer whale, or orca, is also a member of the dolphin family. Dolphins are highly intelligent, social  creatures who swim in groups called pods. They communicate with each other through a series of clicks, whistles, and squeaks, along with body language. Each dolphin has its own unique sound  that it develops shortly after birth. The average lifespan of a dolphin varies based on the species. Bottlenose dolphins live about 40 years. Orcas live about 70. Learning About Dolphins Dolphins are probably one of the best known sea mammals. Their popularity may be due to their smiling appearance and friendliness toward humans.
